About the Activities Book

Welcome to the Activities Book for Procurement Framework.  This Activities Book contributes to the assessment requirements of the Diploma of Procurement and Contracting.

This Activities Book has been provided for you to use during your study program to complete activities for assessment. These exercises form an important part of the learning and assessment processes, both as a tool for your learning and for demonstrating evidence for the performance criteria of the competencies. If you find that you require more space than has been provided, just attach extra pages to the relevant section. If you find it necessary to attach additional documentation, please label any such additional documentation clearly so that your assessor understands the meaning of the documents supplied and can easily return them to you.

How will I be assessed? 

To receive a Pro Leaders Academy (PLA) Statement of Attainment for this competency, you will need to submit the completed Activity Book to your assessor for consideration. Therefore, you should take the time to provide reasonably comprehensive and considered answers to the exercises. While we do not expect that all the pages allowed for each exercise will necessarily be filled, you are expected to provide more than two or three sentences. You must demonstrate a level of understanding that meets the expectations for a qualification at this level. You may also be required to complete a Competency Assessment Workshop for this unit of competency.

We prefer that the Activities Book is handed in at the completion of the training unless there are good reasons for submitting it later. Experience has shown that this is the best way for participants to get the work done. Electronic copies of the Activity Book are available if you would prefer to type up your answers. However, the Activity Book must be submitted as a printed version as we require your original signature on the Statement of Authenticity. This is an important validation issue.

Your Activity Book will be returned to you after your assessor has completed the assessment of your activities. You will also be given some feedback about your performance on the activities so that you can better prepare for the assessment workshop. Any additional documentation provided will be returned to students wherever possible.

Holistic Assessment Approach

You will be assessed holistically for this unit or qualification. This means that you are expected to contribute to class discussions, contribute examples, ask questions and otherwise demonstrate your engagement with the training material.  For group work, you are required to actively and equally participate in group discussions. It is not appropriate to simply copy the work from another member of your group.  You must again demonstrate that you have personally engaged with the material.

We also consider that sometimes participants provide significantly more detail than required in one written question and then provide a lower level of information in subsequent questions. All this information contributes to an assessment of competent.

If your facilitator has concerns about any aspect of the holistic assessment, you may be asked to work individually on assessment tasks so that we can be certain about the level of competence that you display. You may also be asked interview questions to confirm your level of competence.

What are my rights and obligations in the assessment process?

What is an acceptable standard for a qualification at this level?

The Diploma is a qualification that requires breadth, depth and complexity of knowledge covering a broad range of varied activities or application in a wider variety of contexts, most of which are complex and non-routine. Leadership and guidance are involved when organising activities of self and others as well as contributing to technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature.

It requires the performance of a broad range of skilled applications including the need to evaluate and analyse current practices, develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices and provision of some leadership and guidance to others in the application and planning of the skills.

You should have this standard in mind as you complete the readings and exercises set for this program.

Training Materials Provided

You will be provided with realistic simulated training materials and scenarios for use during the training and assessment activities. The scenarios in particular will form the basis of many of the exercises that you will complete during the training program. Please become familiar with them in order to properly address the questions you will be asked. Your facilitator will provide you with copies of the scenarios and any additional information throughout the program as needed to enable you to complete the exercises.
