Probity and Ethics

The dictionary definition of probity refers to uprightness, honesty, proper and ethical conduct and propriety in dealings. Within the Commonwealth Government, the word “probity” is often used in a general sense to mean “good process” and is the evidence of ethical behaviour in a particular process. In procurement and contract management this means treating all potential suppliers consistently and equitably.  Probity is the application, and evidence of the application, of ethical behaviour in a particular process or arrangement.
