What are some practical ways you personally can encourage and assist others to comply with procurement related legislation in the workplace? (Other than reporting to your supervisor)

You discover that a staff member is using State enacted legislation that appears to contradict the Commonwealth legislation to draft a new Commonwealth policy. How would you manage the situation?

In the Australian Privacy Principles, the following principles states:
a. APP 6 states that an APP entity may hold personal information about an individual that is collected for a particular purpose (the primary purpose) and that the entity must not use or disclose the information for another purpose (the secondary purpose); and
b. APP 7 states that if an organisation that holds personal information about an individual, the organisation must not use or disclose the information for the purpose of direct marketing.
You have just started work in a section that is involved in the provision of a service to the public and that requires your work area and a contractor you have engaged to hold personal information. After a personal discussion with the contractor, you find out the contractor has a side business that he/she has been taking personal information from the agency’s files to promote his business by emailing and contacting them about his services.
Discuss what you would do in this situation and why?
